- I'm having trouble getting Trumpet Winsock to run under Windows for
- Workgroups 3.11. I'm using W4WG to network 3 computers, and have no
- Novell or any other type of network stuff running. I'm dialing into
- what should be SLIP account.
-
- What changes do I have to make to my system initialisation files to get
- Trumpet Winsock to run? Currently, it says it can't find the packet
- driver. The problem is: I can't seem to get winpkt.com to load or run.
- All I get are error messages.
-
- Surely there must be some simple way to do this? Isn't there?
-
- Help! I'm getting desperate enough to start tearing my hair out (and at
- my age, there's little enough left as it is).
-
- DIf anyone has a way to make Trumpet Winsock run with Windows fo:r
- Workgroups 3.11, I'd sure appreciate a clue (or two).

- Can anyone tell me if the Chameleon 1.3 that comes in the
- Internet Tour Guide works well with Windows for Workgroups? I'm
- evaluating it for my company, but I don't have a Workgroups machine to
- test it on.

-
- I solved my problem (by accident). I am connecting via SLIP using a dialup
- to my local service provider. All seemed well under DOS but winsock for
- windows (trumpet) didn't work althoug when I did a trace I saw that I was
- apparently trying to communicate.
-
- The resulting solution came when I logged in at 2400 baud using another
- modem. My high speed modem was busy. To my amazement all of the winsock
- applicatoins, including Mosaic worked with no problem.
-
- After a few minutes of fooling with modem commands, I realized that I wass
- set up for x-on/x-off instead of cts/rts. Changing the modem to hardware
- flow control cleared it all up.
-
- Go figure!
